A Plus Size Model’s Battle with Anorexia toward a Healthier Look and Mind
I Stumbled across this article a the size of models is a subject that interests me.
It discribes how she was told to lose weight from an already healthy size, her battle with her weight and other models giving advice like 'just eat apple peels'. I mean models are people, they display art i would not like to think i would go out of my way as a designer to pick stick like models. How can i claim to be designing for women when i pick figures to dress them in with no relation to what any real female looks like?
Here is part of the article-
'Crystal lost hair, had no energy, her mood sunk to perpetually sullen. By the age of 17 her body rebelled. It did not want to lose any more weight. Other models gave her insane advice like just eating the peels off apples. Her agency chastised her. An agent pulled her aside and told her the only two options she had were plus size modeling or commercial work. Crystal had not even heard of plus size modeling, but it was this backhanded bit of career advice that perhaps saved her life.
Today Crystal appears in the pages of Vogue and starred in ads for Dolce & Gabbana. At a size 12, calling Crystal “plus size” seems ridiculous. '
